What: Become a GED tutor at Seeds of Literacy! We serve adults 18+ of all abilities. Many students are studying for their GED, but some just want to brush up on their basic skills. As a tutor, you will work with students one-on-one in subjects you are comfortable with.
Where: Seeds of Literacy has three locations: West (W.25th & Clark), East (Kinsman & 139th), and Virtual (via Zoom)
How: There are three steps to becoming a tutor: 1. Fill out a tutor application on our website. 2. Attend a tutor training. 3. Observe a class session. Here is the link to the application: https://www.seedsofliteracy.org/get-involved/volunteer/tutor/
When: After attending a tutor training, you can tutor at your convenience during any of our class times. Our classes run Monday-Thursday with 3 sessions per day: 9am-11am, 1pm-3pm, and 6pm-8pm.
Why: 66% of Clevelanders are functionally illiterate (reading at or below a 4th grade level). An adult with their GED can make $1,000,000 more in their lifetime than an adult without one. Make a difference in your community by becoming a tutor and supporting students in their educational journey!
